Misty Caldwell

Misty began attending Ohio University while living with her boyfriend when they moved to Athens from Frazeysburg Ohio. Misty successfully attended classes in Telecommunications but her boyfriend quickly flunked out. This set a rift between them despite them living together. She had to work two job to manage to pay the rent which made him blame her and her classes for their problems. Despite being engaged, her boyfriend spent all of his time visiting with his friends until one day she came home to an empty house. Brokenhearted, Misty turned to the online friends her ex hadn't known about (and hadn't been able to drive from her) for comfort through her tough time.
Now a sophomore, Misty is the roommate of Mark and CJ at University Commons, a mostly student inhabited apartment complex.
Misty is still melancholy at times and is learning how to be on her own for the first time in her life. She is kind and sincere and is thankful to her new found friends for accepting her so quickly.

Mark Gallos

Mark is the oldest of the group, somewhere in his mid to late twenties. He originally attended classes in the biological sciences. Mark wasn't one to accept popular ideology and often questioned the tenured professors...for fun more than anything. However, this led to plummeting grades even though Mark is quite intelligent. Once on academic probation, Mark decided liberal arts had nothing left to teach him. He really liked Athens though; it had the population of a small city 9 months of the year, active night life, recreation and college girls. Also, despite being in southern Ohio, Athens is middle of the road to liberal politically. So Mark became a "townie" and decided to stay for awhile.
Mark works at a bar uptown. He is a regular at the Section 9 anime club meetings and met CJ and Misty at a screening.

CJ Brannon

CJ is from a wealthy Himalayan family that lives in Chicago. He's very athletic and is a running back for the OU Bobcats team. He's talented in sports, and actually came to OU on an athletic scholarship. And yet, despite his physical talent, he has grown to resent his scholarship. He really wants to write and not about sports. He wants to be an international journalist or photographer. He would just as soon quit the team, but he'd lose a chunk of his funding for school. Although his parents could easily pick up the slack, his father, who already has wealth, keeps him in sports in the name of fame. CJ is torn between his need to please his family as well as himself...leaving him a bit jaded. This made it hard for him to make friends his freshman year and he felt alone. He started to look to the internet for distractions but was surprised to find friends online.
His artistic side led him to make anime music videos and this is where he met Misty. Both were new to the hobby and something 'clicked' making them fast friends. Misty had just gotten out of an emotionally abusive relationship and they both needed someone to talk to. It was by sheer coincidence that they both were attending the same University.
